RELATE NORTH 2016

The “Search within a Thread” initiative, developed by the Arts and Crafts Department of Syktyvkar State University, aims to delve into students’ subject selections and artistic approaches to express their ideas using local thread-based techniques. This project serves as a platform to explore the rich tapestry of northern nature, myths, legends, archaeology, history, and ethnography within a local context. By identifying significant thematic connections, this venture strives to uncover innovative means of captivating attention towards local cultural intricacies.

One notable aspect of the findings is the profound impact that traditional craft skill training has on students’ creativity and their appreciation for the values embedded within their national heritage. Additionally, the report shares the my personal artistic journey and highlights our collaborative efforts with local museums and creative communities, resulting from these endeavors.
